Privacy Policy
Calculators on Lagos Bullion run in your browser, and the numbers you enter are never sent to our server.
What we collect
We collect only aggregate traffic counts: how many visitors came to the site, which pages they read, and what device type they used. We do not track individual readers, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell or share any personal data. There is no account system on Lagos Bullion, so we never ask for your name, email, or phone number.
The margin calculator and any other tool on this site run entirely in your browser. When you type a lot size or a gold price, that number stays on your phone or computer. It is never transmitted to our server, never stored, and never used for anything else.
Local storage and cookies
We use local storage to remember your own preferences on this device, such as whether you prefer to see prices in USD or naira. Local storage is a small file saved by your browser, and it never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings, and the site will still work.
We do not set advertising cookies, because we do not run third-party ad networks. If you click an affiliate link to a broker, that broker's website will set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Lagos Bullion cannot see or control those cookies, and we do not receive any personal data from them.
Third parties
The only third parties involved are the brokers we link to, and they operate under their own privacy policies. We do not integrate with any analytics service that identifies individual users, and we do not embed social media widgets that track you across the web.
If you email us at editor@lagosbullion.com, we will see your email address and whatever you write. We use that only to reply to your message and to keep a record of corrections. We do not add your email to a newsletter, because we do not have one.
What Lagos Bullion stores on its own servers
Lagos Bullion does not store any information that can identify you as an individual on its own servers. The site has no account system, no login area and no comment section, so there is nowhere for a name, email address or phone number to be saved. The only server-side records are standard technical logs that every web host keeps, such as the pages requested, the time of the request and your IP address. These logs are used solely for security and troubleshooting, and they are rotated automatically after a short period. The site itself is static and does not run a database that collects or retains personal data from readers.
Lagos Bullion stores only the content you see: the articles, the calculators and the privacy policy itself. When you use a calculator, the numbers you type are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent back to the server. The site does not create a profile of your activity, does not remember your visits across sessions and does not store any preference beyond the minimal state needed for the current page to function. Nothing you type into a form, if one ever appears, is written to disk on the server. The server does not hold cookies that would let Lagos Bullion recognise you on a later visit.
The only exception to this no-storage rule is when you follow an outbound link to a broker such as FxPro. At that moment, the broker may set its own cookies and may receive information from your browser, including the fact that you arrived from Lagos Bullion. Lagos Bullion does not receive a copy of the data you provide to the broker, and the broker does not send your application details back to this site. Lagos Bullion's server simply records that a click occurred, with no identifier that can be linked back to you personally. This is the full extent of what Lagos Bullion stores on its own infrastructure.
Cookies placed by Lagos Bullion and what each one does
Lagos Bullion uses only strictly necessary cookies, which are small text files stored on your phone or computer by the browser. These cookies do not track you across other websites and they do not collect personal information for advertising. The first type is a session cookie that lasts only until you close the browser; it keeps the page working correctly when you move between the calculator and the article. The second type is a preference cookie that remembers whether you have dismissed the privacy notice, so you are not shown the same banner on every page. There is no cookie that records your name, your trading activity or your device fingerprint.
The site does not use targeting cookies, which are the kind that follow you around the internet to show adverts for gold brokers. Lagos Bullion also does not use analytics cookies that would measure how long you spend on each paragraph or how far you scroll. The only third-party cookies that can appear are set by the broker when you click an outbound link, and those are governed by the broker's own cookie policy. Lagos Bullion cannot read those cookies and does not receive any data from them. If you block all cookies in your browser, the site will still display correctly, but the privacy notice may reappear on each visit.
You can delete Lagos Bullion cookies at any time from your browser settings, and this will not affect your ability to read the articles or use the calculators. If you use a private browsing window, all cookies are removed automatically when you close the window. Lagos Bullion does not use local storage or any other browser storage mechanism to keep data on your device. The cookies described here are the only ones the site sets, and they are never used to build a profile of your trading habits or to sell you anything. Their sole purpose is to make the site function smoothly on a mobile screen.
Affiliate tracking: what happens when you tap a broker link
When you tap a link to FxPro on Lagos Bullion, the link contains a tracking parameter that tells FxPro the click came from Lagos Bullion. This parameter is a short string of letters and numbers that identifies Lagos Bullion as the referring partner, and it does not contain any information about you. The purpose of this parameter is to allow FxPro to credit Lagos Bullion with a referral if you later open an account. Lagos Bullion may receive a fee from FxPro for that referral, but this does not change the price you pay, the spreads you see or the service you receive. The fee is paid by FxPro, not by you.
Lagos Bullion does not receive any personal information about you from FxPro as part of this tracking. The broker does not tell Lagos Bullion your name, your email address, your deposit amount or your trading results. The only data Lagos Bullion can see is an aggregate count of clicks and, if the broker provides it, an aggregate count of accounts opened. This aggregate data is used to understand which articles are most useful to readers, and it cannot be traced back to any individual. The tracking parameter itself expires after a short period and does not remain on your device.
You can avoid affiliate tracking entirely by typing the broker's address directly into your browser instead of tapping a link on Lagos Bullion. If you do tap a link, the broker may set a cookie that records the referral for a limited time, typically 30 days, so that Lagos Bullion is credited if you open an account later. This cookie is set by FxPro, not by Lagos Bullion, and it is subject to FxPro's own privacy policy. Lagos Bullion has no access to that cookie and cannot delete it for you. The affiliate relationship is disclosed here plainly so that you can make an informed choice about how you reach the broker.
Third parties that receive data from Lagos Bullion
The only third party that receives any data from Lagos Bullion as a direct result of your visit is FxPro, and only when you tap an outbound link. At that moment, FxPro receives the standard information your browser sends with every request, including your IP address, your device type and the page you came from. FxPro also receives the affiliate tracking parameter described in the previous section. Lagos Bullion does not send FxPro any personal data about you in advance, and FxPro does not send personal data back to Lagos Bullion. All information you provide to FxPro during account opening is given directly by you to FxPro, not through Lagos Bullion.
Lagos Bullion uses a web hosting provider to serve the site, and that provider necessarily sees the same technical logs that Lagos Bullion sees, including IP addresses and page requests. The hosting provider is contractually bound to process this data only for the purpose of running the server and is not allowed to use it for its own marketing. Lagos Bullion does not use any third-party analytics service, so no analytics company receives data about your visit. The site does not load fonts, images or scripts from third-party servers except for the broker links, which are plain HTML links and do not load any third-party content until you tap them.
Lagos Bullion does not share, sell or rent any personal data to any third party, because it does not collect any personal data in the first place. There is no mailing list provider, no customer relationship management system and no advertising network connected to this site. If a court or regulator in Nigeria requires Lagos Bullion to disclose technical logs, Lagos Bullion would comply only to the extent required by law and would notify you if legally permitted. The full list of third parties that can receive data from this site is therefore: FxPro (only on a link click), the hosting provider (technical logs only), and any law enforcement body with a valid legal order.
Your rights over data and how to exercise them
You have the right to ask Lagos Bullion what personal data it holds about you, and the answer will almost always be that it holds none. Because the site does not collect names, emails or account details, there is usually no personal data to access, correct or delete. If you believe Lagos Bullion has stored personal data about you, you can request a copy by emailing privacy@lagosbullion.ng, and Lagos Bullion will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to object to any processing of your personal data, although the only processing that occurs is the technical logs, which are necessary for security and cannot be switched off without taking the site down.
To exercise any of your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, send a clear email to privacy@lagosbullion.ng stating which right you wish to exercise and, if relevant, the data you are concerned about. Lagos Bullion will verify your identity only if it actually holds personal data about you, which is unlikely. You can also use your browser settings to block cookies, delete cookies or browse in private mode, and this will prevent Lagos Bullion from setting even the minimal necessary cookies. Lagos Bullion will not penalise you for exercising any right, and the site will continue to work in the same way.
If you are not satisfied with Lagos Bullion's response, you have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, the regulator responsible for data protection in Nigeria. The Commission can investigate whether Lagos Bullion has complied with the law and can impose penalties if it has not. You also have the right to ask FxPro directly about any data it holds about you, because FxPro is a separate data controller for the information you provide to it. Lagos Bullion cannot access, correct or delete data held by FxPro, and you must contact FxPro's own privacy team for that. This policy explains the limits of Lagos Bullion's data processing so that you know exactly what to expect.
Data retention and deletion triggers
Lagos Bullion retains the technical logs from its hosting provider for a maximum of 30 days, after which they are automatically deleted. These logs include IP addresses, page requests and timestamps, and they are kept only to detect and prevent attacks on the site. No other server-side data exists, because Lagos Bullion does not run a database or an account system. If you have ever contacted Lagos Bullion by email, that email conversation is stored in the email inbox until you ask for it to be deleted or until the conversation is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Lagos Bullion does not archive emails indefinitely.
Cookies placed by Lagos Bullion are deleted automatically when they expire, which is at the end of the browser session for session cookies and after 30 days for the privacy-notice preference cookie. You can delete these cookies manually at any time, and doing so does not affect any other data, because there is no other data. The affiliate tracking parameter in outbound links is not stored by Lagos Bullion at all; it exists only in the URL of the link and vanishes when the page is closed. Lagos Bullion does not keep a record of which links you tapped, and therefore there is nothing to delete on the Lagos Bullion side.
If Lagos Bullion ever changes its data practices and begins to store personal data, it will publish a retention schedule in this policy and will state the specific deletion trigger for each category of data. Until then, the only retention that applies is the 30-day log rotation and the cookie expiry periods described above. You can trigger deletion of any email correspondence by sending a request to privacy@lagosbullion.ng, and Lagos Bullion will delete the thread within 14 days. Deletion of technical logs cannot be triggered individually, because the logs are aggregated and do not identify you; they are deleted automatically on the schedule.
What the gold calculators do with your numbers
The calculators on Lagos Bullion process every number you type entirely inside your phone's browser, using JavaScript that runs on the page. Nothing you enter is sent to Lagos Bullion's server, and nothing is saved in a database. When you type a gold price, a lot size or a leverage figure, the calculator uses those numbers only to produce the result on the screen, and then the numbers are discarded when you leave the page. The calculator does not know who you are and does not combine your input with any other data. Even if you refresh the page, the numbers are gone unless your browser's autofill has stored them, which is a feature of your browser, not of Lagos Bullion.
The margin calculation example on this site uses a reference gold price of 4275.0 and shows that at a leverage cap of 1:200 via the offshore entity, a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50 margin. This figure is calculated live in your browser using the formula: margin = price × contract size × lots ÷ leverage. The calculator does not store the result, does not send it to FxPro and does not use it to pre-fill any form. If you change the price or the leverage, the result updates instantly, and the previous result is overwritten. No history of your calculations is kept on the device or on the server.
Because the calculators run locally, they work even if you are offline after the page has loaded, and they do not require any network request. You can verify this by opening your browser's developer tools and watching the network tab while you type: no requests are made. The only time a network request occurs is when you tap a broker link, and that link is completely separate from the calculator. The calculator's output is for educational purposes only and is not a live quote from FxPro or any other broker. Lagos Bullion does not use your calculator inputs for any purpose other than showing you the result on the screen.
What leaves your browser when you tap a broker link
When you tap a link to FxPro on Lagos Bullion, your browser sends a standard HTTP request to FxPro's server. This request includes your IP address, the type of device and browser you are using, the language settings of your browser, and the referring URL, which is the Lagos Bullion page you were on. The request also includes the affiliate tracking parameter that identifies Lagos Bullion as the referring site. Your name, email address, phone number and any trading history you may have with FxPro are not sent in this request, because Lagos Bullion does not have that information to send. The request is the same as if you had typed the FxPro address manually, except for the referring URL and the tracking parameter.
If you have previously visited FxPro and have cookies from FxPro stored in your browser, those cookies are also sent with the request, because that is how cookies work. Lagos Bullion cannot see those cookies and does not receive any data from them. FxPro may use the combination of the referring URL, the tracking parameter and its own cookies to attribute your visit to Lagos Bullion for affiliate purposes. This attribution is limited to the fact that you clicked from Lagos Bullion; it does not give Lagos Bullion any information about your FxPro account. You can prevent this attribution by clearing FxPro cookies before you tap the link or by typing the FxPro address directly.
No other data leaves your browser when you tap a broker link. Lagos Bullion does not embed any tracking pixels, web beacons or third-party scripts that would send additional information. The broker link is a plain anchor tag, so your browser simply navigates to the FxPro website. Once you are on FxPro's site, any information you enter there is between you and FxPro, and Lagos Bullion is not a party to that exchange. If you do not want any data to leave your browser to FxPro, do not tap the link; instead, open a new browser tab and type the FxPro address yourself.
Analytics and what Lagos Bullion deliberately does not measure
Lagos Bullion does not use any third-party analytics service, such as Google Analytics, and does not run its own analytics script. This means the site does not measure how long you stay on a page, how far you scroll, which sections you expand or which articles you read before tapping a broker link. Lagos Bullion makes this choice deliberately so that your reading behaviour on this site is not recorded and cannot be profiled. The only metric Lagos Bullion sees is the aggregate number of page views and the aggregate number of clicks on broker links, which come from the hosting provider's standard logs. These logs do not identify you and are not used to build a picture of individual readers.
Lagos Bullion does not use heatmaps, session recording or any tool that would capture your mouse movements, taps or keystrokes. The site does not measure the size of your screen, your device model or your operating system beyond what appears in the standard server logs. Lagos Bullion does not track whether you return to the site, because there is no persistent identifier that would allow that. The absence of analytics means Lagos Bullion cannot tell which articles are most popular among Nigerian readers, and it accepts that limitation as the price of not collecting data. This policy is a deliberate decision to minimise data collection, not an oversight.
If you are concerned about analytics, you can verify that Lagos Bullion does not load any analytics scripts by viewing the page source or using a browser extension that shows third-party requests. The site loads no scripts from Google, Facebook, Hotjar or any other analytics provider. The only external requests are the broker links themselves, which are triggered only when you tap them. Lagos Bullion does not measure conversions, attribution or any other marketing metric beyond the aggregate click count provided by FxPro. This means Lagos Bullion cannot tell which reader opened an account, and it does not want to know.
Children and this site
Lagos Bullion is not intended for anyone under the age of 18, and the site does not knowingly collect any personal data from children. Because Lagos Bullion does not collect personal data at all, it cannot accidentally collect data from a child. The content on this site is about trading gold through FxPro, which is a high-risk activity that requires legal capacity to enter into a contract. A child cannot open a trading account with FxPro, because brokers require account holders to be at least 18 years old. Lagos Bullion does not market to children and does not design any feature to appeal to a younger audience.
If Lagos Bullion is ever notified that a child has submitted personal data, such as through an email, Lagos Bullion will delete that data within 14 days. However, because the site has no forms, no comment section and no account system, the only way a child could submit data is by emailing Lagos Bullion directly. The calculators do not collect data, so a child using a calculator does not create any personal data that Lagos Bullion could retain. Lagos Bullion's technical logs may include an IP address that belongs to a household where a child lives, but the logs do not identify the age of the person using the device, and Lagos Bullion does not attempt to determine age from the logs.
Parents or guardians who believe their child has interacted with Lagos Bullion can contact privacy@lagosbullion.ng to request confirmation that no personal data is held. Lagos Bullion will respond within 30 days and will confirm that the site has not stored any identifiable information about the child. The site does not use age-gating because it does not collect data, and the content is not illegal for a child to read, but the trading services described are not available to children. Lagos Bullion encourages parents to discuss the risks of leveraged gold trading with their children if the children are old enough to understand the concept.
How changes to this privacy policy are announced
Lagos Bullion will announce any change to this privacy policy by updating the text on this page and changing the effective date at the top of the page. There is no email list and no account system, so Lagos Bullion cannot send you a direct notification of policy changes. The effective date is the only signal that the policy has changed, and readers are expected to check this page periodically if they want to stay informed. Lagos Bullion will not make changes that reduce your privacy without a clear announcement, because the site's entire approach is built on collecting as little data as possible.
If a change is significant, such as adding a new third party or starting to collect a new type of data, Lagos Bullion will place a prominent notice on the homepage for 30 days after the change. This notice will link to the updated policy and will summarise what changed in plain language. Lagos Bullion will also keep a change log at the bottom of this page, listing the date of each revision and a one-line description of the change. This change log is the definitive record of how the policy has evolved, and it allows you to see exactly what was different on any past date.
Lagos Bullion will not apply a change retroactively to data collected before the change, because there is no stored personal data to apply it to. If Lagos Bullion ever begins to collect personal data, it will state in the change log when the collection started and will give you the opportunity to object before the change takes effect. The policy will always be available at the same URL, and Lagos Bullion will not hide the policy behind a login or require you to accept new terms to read the site. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy, but you are free to stop using the site at any time.
